1st Compagny Stoottroepen

End of September  1944:

1st Compagnie formed by resistancemen in the area of Eindhoven. After some training the compagny was attached to the British 2nd Army.

 

October 10th 1944:

10.00 a.m. 123 men were transported on 9 english trucks to Beneden - Leeuwen fot guard duties along the Waalriveer between Wamel and Boven - Leeuwen. Lacking a battledress everyone received a blue overall and an orange tie. HQ was stationed at Hotel Jurriëns, three platoons were billeted in the primary  school and the convent and the rest in private houses. the compagny was commanded by Dré de Kousemaker.

 

October/November 1944:

Compagny reiceived English uniforms.

 

December 18th 1944:

during a fight  J.v.d.Laan and J.v.Dijke are killed.

 

December 22nd 1944:

Compagny departs to Eindhoven for leave.

 

January 11th 1945:

Compagny  took over positions from 7th Compagny at Dreumel.

 

March 8th 1945:

1st Compagny  are relieved by 12th Compagny.
